Statement on Governor Evers’ State of the State Address | by Rep. Dan Knodl

Jan. 23, 2019 – Washington County, WI – Rep. Dan Knodl (R-Germantown) issued the following statement regarding Governor Evers’ State of the State Address this evening at the Capitol in Madison:

“Thanks to positive reforms and common-sense budgeting over the last eight years, the state of our state is strong. Governor Evers inherited one of the best economies in recent memory, record low unemployment across the state, growing wages, lower taxes, and record funding for public education. As he laid out his priorities for the state during his address this evening, he did so with a solid foundation built on the reforms we’ve put into place under Republican control.

“As always, there is still more work to be done. Legislative Republicans sent Governor Evers a letter earlier this month outlining eleven policy areas that we believe can be addressed in a collaborative and bipartisan fashion. Assembly Republicans have already taken the first step in two of these areas. Last week we introduced a middle class tax cut, and earlier today we passed protections for pre-existing conditions with overwhelming bipartisan support. It is a great opportunity to work together and fulfill two important promises made to taxpayers.

“Thank you to Governor Evers for giving his address this evening. I look forward to a productive session that builds on our success over the last eight years and moves our state forward, not backward.”
