Slinger Owls blank Hartford in round 2 of WIAA playoffs | By Ron Naab

Oct. 26, 2018 – Slinger, WI – The Slinger Owls shut out Hartford 28- 0 in a second round WIAA playoff matchup in Division 2.

The Owls took the lead 4 minutes into the game as quarterback Danny Breuer connected on a 10-yard pass to Tommy Boden, the Point After Touchdown kick by Trevor Ulesich was good for a 7 to 0 lead.

Hartford moved the ball fairly well but could not get it across the goal line.

Unfortunately for the Orioles, star running back Scott Savage injured a leg/ankle and was helped off the field not to return for the remainder of the game.

With the clock at less than 6 seconds, Slinger had one last play in the first half, which had Breuer launch a 38-yard pass to Tommy Boden for a touchdown, the PAT by Ulesich was successful.

Slinger had a 14 to 0 lead at the end of the first half.

Nine seconds into the second half, Jeraed Lighthizer took off on a 64-yard run for a touchdown, PAT by Ulesich was good. Owls were up 21 to 0.

With just over 3 minutes into the 4th quarter, Logan Homberg scampered down the field for a 29-yard run for the Owls final score of the night and Ulesich again found the uprights for his fourth PAT of the night.

Final score: Slinger 28 and Hartford 0.

The No. 2 seed Slinger Owls will next face No. 1 seed Homestead on Friday, Nov. 2 at Homestead.

Homestead had a very decisive victory over the Watertown Goslings with a 55 to 12 score.
