Oct. 23, 2018 – Dodge Co., WI – At about 7 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the driver and locate the vehicle involved in this incident.

The suspect, Colin Biel, 41, of Beaver Dam, reported to the sheriff’s office after viewing the press release that had been sent out.

Biel has been arrested and booked into the jail and felony charges of hit and run causing Injury are being requested of the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office.

Of course all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff Dale Schmidt would like to remind drivers that leaving the scene of a crash is a serious offense, especially when someone is seriously injured.

Deputies and communications officers worked very hard through the night to gather all pertinent information and requested the assistance of all local body shops in locating this vehicle. It is likely that had the subject not come forward, they would have located him and the truck used quickly as most often is the case. It is always advisable to stop and remain at the scene if you are involved in a crash, take responsibility for what occurred and care for the injured. The repercussions are mostly likely going to be much more severe for a driver to leave the scene of a crash.

The identity of the injured pedestrian continues to be withheld as it is the policy of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office to withhold names of seriously injured persons for 24 hours or more out of respect to their families to ensure proper notification.

Hit and Run Crash

At about 7:18 PM on October 22, 2018 the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a pedestrian that had been struck on County I near State Highway 33 in the Town of Oak Grove. Investigation revealed a 32 year old male from Reeseville was struck by a vehicle heading south on County I. He was located in the ditch by another driver. The male was transported to the Beaver Dam Community Hospital by Beaver Dam Paramedics and then taken by flight for Life to Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee with serious injuries. The vehicle that struck the pedestrian left the scene. The sheriff’s office is still looking for that vehicle and driver.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white 2015 Ford F150 XL or similar. The vehicle should have damage to the front end including what we believe to be the driver’s side headlight. If anyone has information on this crash including the location of the truck or the identity of the driver, we ask that they please contact the sheriff’s office and ask to speak with a patrol supervisor. The crash currently remains under investigation. Assisting at the scene were Juneau Fire/EMS, Beaver Dam Paramedics and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Questions may be directed to Sheriff Dale J. Schmidt.
