July 28, 2019 – West Bend, WI – A couple of early risers took advantage of the cool morning temps on Sunday to finish their project for the third annual Art & Chalk Festat the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
Artist Elizabeth Niemczyk of Chicago arrived just after 6 a.m. Sunday. “It’s a lot calmer in the morning and I get to work out all of the problems that were too frustrating to work out the night before,” she said.
Niemczyk is chalking an original adaptation by Svetlana Petrova and Zarathustra the Cat.
Artists arriving early pulled back the protective plastic which covered the chalk art overnight. Heavy dew and precipitation from scattered showers rolled off the edge of tarps and onto the pavement.
The final chalk masterpieces will be judged and awards handed out at 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Come explore the artist booths, create artwork of your own, listen to live music, view exhibitions inside the museum, and much, much more from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
