Washington Co. 4-H student: What I hope to see in Washington D.C. By Riley Smeaton

Jan. 17, 2017 – West Bend, WI –There are 11 members of Washington County 4-H leaving today for Washington D.C. as they will be on hand for Friday’s presidential oath of office. Throughout the week six members of the 4-H group will be filing stories on WashingtonCountyInsider.com

Riley Smeaton authored the story below.

Going to a presidential inauguration is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for anyone to attend. It is a historic event of transferring the power from one citizen to the next for the responsibility of President of the United States.

I was beyond excited after learning I was accepted to attend the inauguration in Washington D.C. and take part in other seminars to learn about the process to become president.

Other than the inauguration, I hope to see many places including the Newseum, a museum with historic artifacts that were important to the history of America.

Another event I am looking forward to is a dinner cruise on the Potomac River. This will be a great way to see a lot of Washington D.C. and have a celebration after the inauguration.

One final place I am looking forward to see is the White House. Hopefully there will be time for a public tour, but I will settle for seeing it from beyond the gates.

There is a lot of exciting sightseeing and learning to come on this trip.
