An agreement was reached to team WCI with The Moving Wall™ coming to Germantown in 2016.
The Moving Wall™ is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Although a smaller version of the original, The Moving Wall™ is the length of a football field and it will be on display Sept. 1 – 5, 2016 across the street from the Germantown American Legion Post 1 on the grounds at Kennedy Middle School.
Taking a look behind the scenes on some of the things in the works include securing a military flyover along with an appearance of a Huey helicopter, creation of an educational experience for students and a ‘Healing Field’ with hundreds of American flags.
A coffee table book with color photos and bios of 13 veterans from Washington County whose names are on The Moving Wall™ will also be available.
The Moving Wall™ has been touring the country for 30 years and has made appearances in Racine, Delafield and Aurora, Illinois.
Watch for updates here at Washington County Insider by Judy Steffes. I’ll keep you up to speed with photos, webpages and all the latest developments leading up to September 2016.
Anybody who would like to volunteer to help – please message me. This is going to be an amazing event for the community, our veterans, and Washington County.
