March 8, 2017 – Washington County, WI – High winds and wintery weather moved in Tuesday night as skies darkened in the north and it looked as if Lucifer was about to strike.
Shortly after 6 p.m. the winds picked up and a combination of rain and snow pelted neighbors across Washington County.
On Wednesday, Amy Jahns with We Energies said there were about 3,200 scattered outages across Washington County including 1,800 in Ashipun 1,300 in Town of Polk, 704 in the Town of Ashford, 45 in Town of Addison, 45 in Town of West Bend, and 11 in the Town of Trenton. Other areas affected include the Village of Jackson, Village of Lomria and neighboring Dodge and Fond du Lac Counties.
“All available crews are out and working to restore power,” said Jahns. “If anyone comes across a down wire stay at least 25 feet away.”
The National Weather Service says a high-wind warning remains in effect until 5 p.m. Sustained wind gusts of 55 to 60 miles per hour are possible.
