West Bend man seriously injured in snowmobile accident | By Sheboygan Co. Lt. Trevor Bethke

January 20, 2020 – Sheboygan Co., WI – A 34-year-old West Bend man was seriously injured on Sunday, January 19 in a snowmobiling accident in neighboring Sheboygan County.

According to the Sheboygan County Sheriff at approximately 9:10 p.m. the Sheboygan County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call in reference to a single snowmobile crash with injuries located in a field near STH 144 at the intersection of Lynn Road.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 34-year-old West Bend man was travelling at a high rate of speed on the snowmobile trail located in the area.  

The snowmobile left the trail and struck a rock wall causing the snowmobile and operator to become airborne for approximately 100 feet.  

The operator was taken via Flight For Life to Froedtert Hospital with serious injuries.  The Wisconsin DNR was contacted and will be handling the investigation into this incident.

 

The following public safety agencies assisted with this incident: Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin DNR, Orange Cross Ambulance, Random Lake Ambulance, Random Lake Fire Department, Silver Creek Fire Department, and Flight For Life.

  1. Your local snowmobile clubs urge you to use caution and your head. Trails were open for residents to enjoy but some areas may have open water or outcropping obstructions. Individual trails be closed at the local club’s discretion. *** NO ICE IS SAFE ICE!
