West Bend Police arrest woman with child in car for retail theft

Sept. 18, 2017 – West Bend, WI – FIRE- BUSINESS – 304 E. Progress Drive – On Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at 3:29 a.m., West Bend Police and West Bend Fire were called to Advanced Coatings at 304 E. Progress Drive after an employee of a nearby business heard an audible alarm coming from the building.

A fire was located on the exterior of the Advanced Coatings building near the dumpsters, and was extinguished by West Bend Fire. The business was closed at the time. The fire caused approximately $100,000 damage to the building. Investigators from the West Bend Police and West Bend Fire are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.

RETAIL THEFT/ELUDING OFFICERS – 1515 W. Paradise Dr. Walmart – On Saturday Sept. 16, 2017 at 11:33 a.m., a Walmart employee reported a female leaving the business after she concealed merchandise that was not paid for and refused to return to the store.

West Bend officers located the female, a 37-year-old Milwaukee resident, exiting the parking lot in her vehicle. When officers attempted to stop the female, she drove away at a high rate of speed, continued for two miles before stopping, and was taken in to custody. The woman was arrested and placed in jail for Retail Theft, Eluding Officers and Recklessly Endangering Safety, due to her 6-year-old son being a passenger in the vehicle during the pursuit. The six year old was released to a relative.
