West Bend Police investigate skeletal remains found in wetland area of Parkway Drive


April 4, 2017 – West Bend, WI – On Monday, April 3, 2017 at approximately 5 p.m. a 34-year-old man was hiking through Quass Creek Parkway, 2100 Parkway Drive, West Bend when he observed skeletal remains.

The man called West Bend Police Department and investigating officers believed the remains were human.

The area where the remains were found are wetlands and difficult to navigate.

 

The West Bend Police Department requested the assistance of the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin State Crime Lab. On Tuesday, April 4, 2017 the West Bend Police Department, the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, and the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted a thorough search of the area and recovered a number of bones that the medical examiner identified as human bones of an adult.

 

We also found personal effects of what would now be a 55-year-old male from Michigan. The West Bend Police Department and the Washington County Medical Examiner are working on positively identifying the deceased and determining the cause of death.
