WI-33 railroad crossing in Allenton to be refurbished | By Ron Naab

August 6, 2019 – Allenton, WI – The safety of the railroad crossing in Allenton has been an ongoing issue as motorists and community members have complained about the noise when motor vehicles cross the tracks.

In the past, officials from the town of Addison along with the Washington County Highway Department aired their concerns to the Canadian National Railroad.

In March 2016 the crossing was a mess with railroad spikes moving up from their holding position at the crossing and an actual rubber pad sunk lower than the rail.

Jackie Macewicz, Manager of Public Works for the Canadian National Railroad in Wisconsin and Minnesota, said there will be a “full renewal of the railroad crossing at WI-33 in Allenton.”

The renewal will take approximately five days and include new rails, ties, ballast [under support of the track] and approach surfaces.  Originally the plan was to do this the week of August 26 however Macewicz said the repairs will now be made in September.
