Winter weather advisory in effect in Washington County and neighboring communities

 

April 18, 2018 – Washington Co., WI – The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect in Washington County and neighboring Ozaukee, Fond du Lac, Dodge, and Sheboygan Counties until 1 a.m. Thursday, April 19.

According to accuweather.com snow expected this afternoon and evening. Total accumulations of 3 to 5 inches in Dodge, Washington, Jefferson and Waukesha Counties. 1 to 4 inches in Marquette, Green Lake, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth Counties.

The afternoon commute is expected to be rather dicey with slippery road conditions, including during the evening commute. Expect reduced visibility at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

 

The young lady in the vintage photo from the 1920s is Betty Nelson of West Bend. She moved to town from New York with her parents and they lived in a home near McLane School.

  1. Hi Judy, this home which was razed to make way for McLane school in the late 1930’s was originally built by August C. Fuge Sr., founder of Fuge Hardware. The large Fuge barn stood nearby on the site of the old St. Joseph’s Hospital. This home has always reminded me of the old renovated home in the Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life”.
