June 18, 2020 – West Bend, WI – This week the Washington/ Ozaukee Public Health Department posted an update reducing the standards on the COVID lockdown. Click HERE to read more.

Part of the new standards reduced the immediate lockdown of all long-term care facilities. However, Cedar Community in West Bend said it is reviewing the orders and working on a “phased approach.”

Below is a copy of the statement of review from Cedar Community.

All of us at Cedar Community are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to have safe visitation options for residents and families. With the local health department lockdown orders now lifted, we are working on a phased approach to allow visitors.

However, current visitor restrictions will remain in place while we await clear directions on what those phases will look like based on Wisconsin Department of Health Services and the Wisconsin Bureau of Assisted Living guidelines. Both agencies are working on documentation for “Practicing Safe Visits” for long-term care organizations and we hope to have that information very soon.

We understand the continued restrictions are undoubtedly frustrating, but it is important to remember that our residents live among their neighbors, many of whom have serious underlying health conditions and remain vulnerable to COVID-19, a virus that is still a threat.

We are cautiously optimistic, and we thank you for your support and understanding. We will continue to post updates on our phased plans as they are developed!

  1. With all do respect. Why have you not had a plan in the works already ? The elderly are affected greatly by not being able to have face to face visits from their loved ones . I do treasure my elderly very much . Visitors be screened for temperatures, small questioner ( like at the doctor’s office ) , and masks .

    • This virus is so insidious, all it takes is one asymptomatic person, and Cedar could become a very sad statistic. The staff has done a wonderful job keeping their residents safe and happy. FaceTime and window visits keep family engaged w their loved ones. Certainly I miss hugging my mom, but she knows I love her.

  2. Had a window visit with my mom today it was great. I certainly wouldn’t want to be responsible for infecting her and all other residents and employees.
