Discover Moraine Park opens opportunities for community

 

Sept. 14, 2018 – Washington Co., WI – Moraine Park Technical College will host its annual community event, Discover Moraine Park, to help attendees jump-start their education and career. High school students, displaced workers, and individuals looking for a career change are encouraged to attend this event at any of the college’s three campuses.

Discover Moraine Park is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 10 at the West Bend campus; Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Fond du Lac campus; and, Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Beaver Dam campus. Participants may stop in anytime between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in activities such as trying out the virtual welder, sampling culinary recipes, and touring an ambulance. The event will allow individuals to explore different programs of study offered at the College and tour the campus, labs, and classrooms. Program instructors and staff will be available to explain program details, admissions requirments, and more.

“This event showcases a variety of programs from fields in healthcare to trades and manufacturing to human services,” Erin Wierenga, Recruitment Specialist at Moraine Park said. “It serves as an opportunity for attendees to see the College from a new perspective.”

The event is also designed to familiarize attendees with resources outside the classroom, including diversity relations, student life, veteran resources, tutoring, and counseling. One-on-one assistance from Financial Aid specialists will be available to help attendees submit their FAFSA. This service is available anytime between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on each of the designated Discover Moraine Park evenings.

“We work to provide a foundation that allows individuals the opportunity to grow,” Wierenga said. “There are great things happening at the College, and we are excited to share them with our community.”
