Funeral for Tom Piwoni, 65, is today

Thomas J. “T” Piwoni, 65, of Kewaskum, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital in Brookfield.

Tom was born on April 4, 1951 in Milwaukee, the son of Marian (Bingenheimer) Piwoni and the late Thomas G. Piwoni.  On May 13, 1978 he was united in marriage to Diane Theisen at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport.

Tom was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.  He graduated from St. Francis Borgia Catholic School and from Cedarburg High School.  After graduation, Tom was employed at Simplicity in Port Washington.

 

In his early 20’s, he moved to Kewaskum where he owned/operated his first of many taverns in the Kewaskum area.  During those years, he was also employed as a delivery route driver for Tombstone & Tradewinds Pizza for a number of years.  In 1992 he began working at Gruber Tool & Die in West Bend and was employed there for 19 years before retiring in 2011.  Tom also served as a Trustee on the Village of Kewaskum Board for several terms.

Tom enjoyed watching his kids play sports for many years & most recently loved to spend time with his grandchildren including watching them perform in their school programs.  He was also an avid Kewaskum Indian, Packer, Badger & Brewer fan.  He loved to socialize with everyone & will always be remembered by his infectious smile.

Those Tom leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Diane, of 38 years; three children, Amy Uhlig, Luke (Stephanie) Piwoni and Chad Piwoni; his mother, Marian Piwoni; three grandchildren, Isabelle, Alivia and Langdon Piwoni; three brothers, Mark (Rita) Piwoni, Peter (special friend Pam) Piwoni and Michael (Kristine) Piwoni; three sisters, Mary Hamelink, Susan Mortensen and Catherine Piwoni; three sisters-in-law, Donna (Allen) Kreif, Anita (Jerome) Schladweiler and Carol (special friend Don) Theisen; a brother-in-law, Donald (Deborah) Theisen; 21 nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Thomas G. Piwoni, his brothers, Jerome Piwoni, Leon Piwoni and Robert Piwoni, his niece Elicia Piwoni, and his parents-in-law, Arthur and Marian Theisen.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas will be held on Sunday, September 18 at 5:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main St. in Kewaskum.  Fr. Edwin Kornath will officiate and burial will take place on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Cemetery.

The Piwoni family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated and will be donated to numerous charities/organizations including the WE BELIEVE campaign, American Diabetes Association and others.
