Hartford man involved in school bus vs. van accident in neighboring Dodge County | By Sheriff Dale Schmidt

November 1, 2019 – Dodge Co., WI – On October 31, 2019 at approximately 7:28 a.m., the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on Jefferson Road in the Town of Rubicon involving a school bus. The initial report indicated there were no injuries to any students or the driver of the school bus and only minor injuries to the operator of the second vehicle.

Initial investigation indicates that a van operated by a 47-year-old town of Rubicon man was traveling south on Jefferson Road and came upon a school bus with lights activated which was attempting to stop for pick-up. The van was unable to stop and collided with the back of the school bus. The school bus was being operated by a 39-year-old town of Hartford man. It was immediately confirmed at the scene that there were no injuries to any children on the school bus or the driver of the bus.

 

The operator of the van and his passenger were transported from the scene to Aurora Medical Center in Hartford for minor injuries. They were transported by Jackson Rescue and Allenton Rescue respectively.

All parents of the children were contacted and the children were released from the scene or transported to school by the bus service after the contact with parents. The crash remains under investigation and names have not yet been released.  Weather/road conditions were a factor in the crash.

Assisting Dodge County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were Hartford Fire and Rescue, Neosho Fire and Rescue, Jackson Fire and Rescue, Allenton Fire and Rescue, Richfield Fire and Rescue and A.S.A.P. Towing.
