Hootie Fest is tonight, Aug. 30, in Slinger | By Jack Summers

August 30, 2019 – Slinger, WI – Slinger High School’s Student Council and D.E.C.A. Chapter are sponsoring the inaugural Hootie Fest in an effort to raise money for the United Way of Washington County and club activities throughout the year.

Hootie Fest

The event will take place before the Varsity Football game from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. behind the home bleachers and will have many activities.

There will be a Eurobungee trampoline, several inflatables, other kid-friendly carnival games, food trucks, music, and more.

There will also be a corn roast to relieve any hunger from the vast amounts of games available to play.

Tickets for games are $1 each or 20 for $15. Different activities require more or less tickets. Wristbands can be purchased for $15, which gives unlimited access to the Eurobungee and inflatables and entrance to the actual football game, plus 4 tickets.

This event not only raises money for a great cause, but also celebrates being a Slinger Owl. It is the first home football game of the year and also falls on Youth Night where the younger kids get the spotlight on the field.

Slinger plays Port Washington and both teams are looking to get their first win of the season, so the game will be extremely competitive.

Student Council Co-president Taylor Loomans said, “The process has been long but so exciting. Talking about all the new plans each day made the event seem so much more real in the very beginning.”

She also stated she is “looking forward to a great community coming out and not only supporting our football team, but supporting the clubs and organizations that make a lot of our events happen at the high school.”

A huge thanks is due to Amy Keliher (Student Council advisor) and Kim Smessaert (D.E.C.A. advisor) for kicking this process off and organizing a great amount of it.

Student Council members proud of their work creating the Toilet Paper Toss for the festival.
