House fire in Village of Kohler in neighboring Sheboygan County

April 2, 2019 – Village of Kohler, WI – On April 2, 2019 at 11:50 a.m. the Sheboygan County Communications Center received a 911 call from the resident at 631 School Street in the Village of Kohler reporting that a bathroom in the residence was on fire.

Kohler Police Officers and Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived within a couple of minutes and observed smoke and flames coming from one of the bathroom walls. Handheld fire extinguishers were used in an attempt to stop the fire from spreading.

Kohler Fire Department personnel arrived and found an active working fire. The fire extended into surrounding walls. An aggressive attack stopped the fire from spreading any further. During this time, fire crews also were able to rescue several family pets.

The initial investigation points to some form of electrical failure as the cause of the fire.

No damage estimate is available at this time. No injuries to any first responders were reported on scene.

Agencies assisting the Kohler Fire Department included the City of Sheboygan Falls Fire Department, the Town of Sheboygan Fire Department, the Haven Fire Department, and Orange Cross Ambulance Paramedics.

In addition to the Kohler Police Department and the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, the City of Sheboygan Falls Police Department also assisted with traffic control.
