KML adds team to trap shooting league

kml and hcgc

Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School has made plans to join a local trap shooting league through the Hartford Conservation and Gun Club and the Daniel Boone Conservation League for the first time in school history.

Prior to KML’s entry into the league, nine high schools have been competing against each other, including Slinger, Menomonee Falls, and Arrowhead. Through this league, participants are actually able to earn an athletic letter for their merits, just as one would in other varsity sports.

KML students have shown definite interest in the club, as over 40 people have already committed. The head coach of the club will likely be the Chargers’ head varsity football coach Mark Heckendorf.

The league plans to begin Feb. 13 and run through June 27. The entry fee is $95 per student, and each person must have their own firearm. Shooting will mostly take place at the Hartford Conservation and Gun Club, as well as other neighboring clubs if need be.
