KML Chargers end in a tie with Slinger and now prep for WIAA state tournament | By Jacob Moeller

Oct. 16, 2017 – Jackson, WI – Kettle Moraine Lutheran capped off its regular soccer season on Monday night at Slinger, playing to a 1-1 draw.

The Chargers were on the board first, when in the 42nd minute Riley Asen played a perfect pass to Joseph Raasch, who outran the Slinger defense and scored.

Both teams had chances in the second half, but it was the Owls who found a goal in the 70th minute, as a Slinger cross took a wild bounce off a defender, ricocheted off the crossbar, and fell perfectly into the path of Zach Scherbert, who hammered it home.

The crossbar was cruel to the Chargers once again in the last 10 minutes of the match when Jake Semenske’s penalty kick careened off the woodwork and out.

KML now sets its sights on the state tournament, where it will open play on Thursday, hosting Ozaukee.
