June 4, 2021 – West Bend, WI – The new grandstand at Carl M. Kuss Memorial Field is really starting to take shape. Just last week the press box was lifted into place
This week the stairs and railings were finished and the letters were placed atop the press box. These are not the old letters that graced the previous grandstand.
The West Bend Baseball Association is still raising money for the project. “This is a $2.1 million project and we still need to raise about $300,000,” said Mueller. “We’re really thankful to the people who have donated so far but we need a bit more so we can finish it off and hit it outta the park.”

Earlier this week a letter was sent by the WBBA regarding a request for funding from Washington County. Details are below.
Good Afternoon,
The West Bend Baseball Association is in the midst of a public fundraising effort to renovate Carl M. Kuss Field inside Regner Park in West Bend, the one time home of the WIAA state tournament and current home of the Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Classic, West Bend East and West, West Bend Little League, West Bend 7 Up, Kewaskum A’s, and Boys and Girls Club. In the process of fundraising for this project a one time partner of the project fell out and took with it over $500,000 in funding for the project.
In the past few days, the WBBA has made contact with Washington County, County Executive Josh Schoemann to see if Washington County would be interested in helping complete the project.
Why am I bothering you? Why would you care? Great questions. County Executive Schoemann wants to hear from the community, residents and users of Carl Kuss Field and would like to know about what the facility means to the game of baseball, to you the player/former player, and what you think a fully turf field would mean to the baseball community as a whole and to Washington County.
What I am asking is if you can write a real quick and simple letter as your team, organization, and/or individual and attach it in an email to myself or Doug Gonring at douggonring@wbelevator.com
The deadline is pretty quick. We need to have all letters turned into the County Executive’s office by 3pm on Friday, June 4.
Everyone that knows me knows just how much this project has meant to me over the past decade, and your help would mean the world to me. My goal is to provide a safe place for ball players of all ages to use and enjoy the same way I did. I never dreamed of playing at County Stadium or Miller Park, I always dreamed of playing baseball at Carl M. Kuss Field.
