Obit: Bonnie Schmitz, 80

Bonnie A. Schmitz, 80, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at Kathy Hospice in the town of Polk.

She was born on April 6, 1935, in Escanaba, MI, the daughter of the late Marcus and Verna (nee Gascon) MacRae and on May 8, 1986 she was united in marriage to Richard Schmitz in Baraboo.  Richard preceded Bonnie in death on December 3, 1995.

Bonnie worked at Masterlock for 37 years holding various positions.  After her retirement she spent 9 years as a receptionist at Westside Haircutters.  Bonnie was a long time member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in West Bend.

Those Bonnie leaves behind to cherish her memory include two children, Gina (Scott) Breunig of Milwaukee and Trina Sberna of West Bend; three grandchildren, Lark (Josh) Elflien of Cedarburg, Spencer Breunig of Milwaukee and Vincent Sberna of West Bend; three great-grandchildren, Gracianna, Sophia and Gabrielle; a sister, Mary (Tom) Jenkin of Savage, MN; a brother, Merton MacRae of Palmetto, FL; a sister-in-law, Angie MacRae of Glendale Heights, IL, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband Bonnie was preceded in death by a son, Anthony J. Sberna and two brothers, Marcus MacRae and Elwyn MacRae.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bonnie will be held at Noon on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, 1025 S 7th Ave., in West Bend.  Father Nathan Reesman will officiate and entombment will follow at Washington County Memorial Park.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mian and all her caregivers.  As well as her great-granddaughters and dear friend Bernice Allen for their many wonderful visits.
