Obit: Edward Koepke, 85, Beechwood

Edward W. “Ed” Koepke, 85, of Beechwood, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the Beechwood Rest Home in Beechwood.

Edward was born on October 29, 1930, the son of the late Edward and Alma (Suemnicht) Koepke and was a 1948 graduate of Kewaskum High School. Following graduation, Edward was employed at Regal Ware as a tool and die maker for 45 years. Edward proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. On May 19, 1956, he was united in marriage to Corinne Stange at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. Corinne preceded Edward in death on May 2, 2014.

 

Edward was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott where he was involved in numerous activities. He was also a member of the Beechwood Fire Department, Beechwood Sportsmans Club, and the Beechwood Athletic Club (Diamond Club). Edward had a passion for baseball. He grew up playing baseball and eventually coached Beechwood Little League for over 20 years. Edward was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his annual trips to Canada and Up North with family and friends. He was a passionate Packer fan, holding season tickets since 1961.

 

Those Edward leaves behind to cherish his memory include three children, Michael (Joy) Koepke of New Prospect, Lori Koepke of Eau Claire and Julie Koepke of Fond du Lac; his granddaughter, Grace (Devyn) King; his great grandson, Cameryn King; a sister-in-law, Cordell (Roger) Strack of Kewaskum; two step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

In addition to his wife and parents, Edward was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Elmer and Edna Stange; two brothers, Roland (Shirley) Koepke and Fred (Nancy) Koepke.

 

Funeral services for Edward will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the town of Scott. Rev. Joseph Fisher will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Edward’s family will greet relatives and friends at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.

 

Memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Beechwood Diamond Club are appreciated.
