Obit: Eleanor Gertrude Mergener, 91, of Richfield

Feb. 16, 2018 – Richfield, WI – Eleanor G. Mergener (nee Schulteis) “Ellie” passed away Tuesday February 6, 2018 at the age of 91 years. She was born on March 18, 1926 on the family farmstead in Richfield to Albert and Clara (nee Hennes) Schulteis.

On June 18, 1949, she married Thomas P. Mergener at St. Mary’s Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Richfield. Ellie enjoyed baking, canning, patchwork quilting, and many years of making “Yarnies.”

She was also an active member of Christian Mother’s & Altar Society at St. Mary’s Richfield, past Treasurer of Area Council of Germantown PTA, leadership roles for Highway View and Rockfield Schools.

Eleanor is survived by her children: Michael (Patricia), Mark, Rodney (Tina), Cindy (Terry) Fassbender, Thomas (Eva) Jr., Terry (Chery), Brian (Lori), Bruce (Rosanne), Constance (Rick) Hillmann and Michele (Doug) Duquaine, 32 grand-children, 37 great-grandchildren, her siblings; Margaret Held, Alice Schulteis, Clara Mae Bayer. Leila Schulteis, Marilyn (Theodore) Merten, many, many niec-es, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, son Randal, siblings; Theodore (Adela) Schulteis, Berna-dine (Hans) Achenreiner, infant brother Peter, Albert T. Schulteis, Ralph Schulteis, brothers-in-law; Richard Held, Gilbert Bayer, sister-in-law; Beatrice (Robert) Schulteis.

 

 

 

 

 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Feb. 10 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church (1200 St. Gabriel Way Hubertus) with Fr. Timothy C. Bickel presiding.   Interment was at St. Mary Cemetery in Richfield.
