Obit: Gertrude Alma Schroeter, 95

Gertrude Alma Schroeter (Nee Boll) age 95, passed away peacefully at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake, WI on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Gertrude was born to Otto and Helena (Nee Millert) Boll on November 12, 1920 in Sheboygan falls, WI. She graduated Sheboygan Falls High School in 1938 and married Lyle Schroeter at St. John’s Lutheran Church in May of 1974.

Gertrude didn’t appreciate rural farm work, but her parents raised cash crops and fowl to increase their income during the great depression years and beyond, so that she could have piano lessons and an education.  As an adult, she was the organist at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Silver Creek for several years.  She enjoyed the outdoors and spent much time hunting and fishing with her husband Lyle.

Gertrude is survived by her adopted three sons, Jeffery (Marie), Darrell (Janine) & Cary (Pamela); 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Judith, Justin, Jessica, Bryan and Adam; 8 great-grandchildren; nieces, Sheila, Peggy and Beth and nephew Mark; brother-in-law, Delmar (Nancy); God-children, other relatives and friends

She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Merlin Risse, her second husband Lyle Schroeter; her brother, Norman; sister, Althea; brother-in-law Vilas and sister-in-law, Eileen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church (806 S. 6th Ave, West Bend, WI) with Pastor Dave Kellerman presiding.  Visitation will be at the church from 11:00AM until the time of service. Interment will be on Tuesday at 2:45PM at Washington County Memorial Park.
