Obit: Johanna Schlosser, 94

Johanna C. Schlosser, nee Amelse of West Bend found eternal rest on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at The Kathy Hospice at the age of 94 years. She was born on March 9, 1922 in West Bend to the late Richard and Agnes (nee Bartels) Amelse.

She married Kayes Searvogel.

On September 24, 1971, she married Sylvester D. Schlosser in West Bend. Syl predeceased May 15, 1994.

She worked at Lasata Nursing Home in Cedarburg, the Hill restaurant in Slinger and at the canning factory in Jackson. She also volunteered at the Family Center and the Full Shelf Food Pantry, both located in West Bend.

She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and gardening.

Survivors include 4 children Patricia (Ronald) Lubhan of Gillman, Ken Searvogel of West Bend, Don Searvogel of Iola and Robert (Eileen) Searvogel of West Bend; 1 step-son Ronald (Lois) Schlosser of Newburg; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 brothers George (Johanna) Amelse, Theodore (Whil) Amelse; 1 sister Cornelia Winchells; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and Syl, she was preceded in death by her former husband Kayes Searvogel, 1 grandson Scott Searvogel, 1 daughter-in-law Carol Searvogel, 3 brothers Nickolas, John and Albert Amelse and 2 sisters Thickla Bernt and Mary Stevenson.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21 at 12 noon at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 777 South Indiana Ave, West Bend, with Rev. Richard Lauersdorf and Rev. Robert Hein officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Angels Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends during a period of visitation at the church on Monday from 10 until 11:45 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Johanna’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all who remembered her with cards, prayers and visits, to Dr. Mosley and the staff at The Kathy Hospice for their care, compassion and concern.
