Obit: Robert May, 81

Robert “Bob” May, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Cedar Lake Health and Rehab surrounded by family.  Bob was born on July 6, 1934 in West Bend, WI to Robert and Clara (nee Peterson) May.  Bob attended Holy Angels Elementary School and was an altar boy at Holy Angels Catholic Church for many years.  He was a team member of the first West Bend High School State Championship Baseball Team in 1951 and then graduated in 1952.

His love for sports continued playing softball, tennis and golf.  He was a very proud and loyal fan of the Detroit Lions and San Francisco Giants.  Robert loved Christmas especially gathering family and singing Christmas carols in the kitchen.  Robert worked at the West Bend Company Finance Department for 33 years and Glacier Hills Credit Union for 15 years.  He is known to greet others with a bright smile, hearty laugh and a wink of an eye.

Bob will be missed by his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Donna (nee Sander) May; children Mark (Pam) and Bradford; grandchildren Michael (Sadie) and Rebecca (Steve); great-grandchildren Sophia, Addison, Andre, Isabella, Mia, Mikey; his brother Jerry (Florence) and sister-in-law Joyce (Robert) Ruesch.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Bob is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth (Roman) Barth, Lorraine (Robert) Caspari and brother Leroy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 1:00PM at St. Frances Cabrini (1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend) with Father Nathan Reesman presiding.  Visitation will be at the church Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 11:00AM until 12:45PM.   Robert requested to be cremated and interred in the family plot at Holy Angels Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Frances Cabrini Building Fund (1025 S. 7th Ave., West Bend) or donor’s choice.
