Ronald Adair Breitkreutz passed into eternal life on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the age of 74 surrounded by his loving family.
Ron was born on October 17, 1941 in Hartford to the late August and Viola (nee Rau) Breitkreutz. He attended Mayville High School graduating in the class of 1959. Ron was a reluctant draftee, but an extremely proud veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Following his time in the service, Ron worked several jobs while attending night school to earn his engineering degree. He later became an agency engineer for Broan-Nutone retiring in 2005 after 34 years of service.
Ron was passionate about his membership with the American Legion Post #69 where he served as a past post commander. He served on the Color Guard and believed his most important role was to provide a final farewell to service veterans by performing military honors. He was also a member of Voiture 856 Dodge County 40&8, and Masonic Lodge 120 in Hartford.
His many other hobbies included golfing, bowling, and especially traveling the world with his life partner Louellen Hoffman. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their many activities. Ron was rich in family and friends as he tried to conduct his life with integrity and honesty. He was humble with a caring attitude, compassionate, considerate, respectful, and generous in nature. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor.
Ron is survived by his partner in life’s journey, Louellen Hoffman of Horicon; his children, Richard (Mary) Breitkreutz of Mayville, Lee (Lynda) Breitkreutz of Mayville, Craig (Lisa) Hoffman of Beaver Dam, and Michelle (Eric) Yocom of Burke, VA; proud grandfather of, Tyler, Kyle, Andrew, and Ryan Breitkreutz, Amanda and Arron Schultz, Lukas, Kadon, and Aubrey Hoffman, and Andrew Yocom; and proud great-grandfather of, Levi Weber. He is further survived by his siblings, Yvonne Lemerond, Wini (Hank) Massey, Nancy Ridgewell, Jerry (Sue) Breitkreutz, and Jackie (Earl) Diels; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his foster parents, Oscar and Cora Guse; and two brothers-in-law, Mel Lemerond and Russ Ridgewell.
A celebration of Ron’s life will take place on Saturday, March 5th, at 4:00 pm, at the American Legion Post #69 in Mayville. Visitation will be at the American Legion Post #69 on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm. A private inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Woodland.
