Obit: Russell C. Johnson, 90, of Slinger

Nov. 15, 2017 – Slinger, WI – Russell C. Johnson, 90, of Slinger, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. He was born on November 30, 1926 in West Bend, the son of the late William and Elanore Johnson. Russell joined the Marine Corps on December 14, 1943.

He served during World War II, and earned the Purple Heart in Okinawa. Russell returned home and married the love of his life, Audrey Bruessell on September 14, 1946. He owned and operated Johnson Movers Inc. until his retirement in 1991.

Russell enjoyed restoring antique cars and trucks and was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Slinger.

Those Russell leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Audrey of 71 years; their seven children, Larry, Jerry (Ruth), Jane (Bill) Passaglia, Jim (Karen), Joan (Bob) Kearns, Judy Bonlender, and Andy; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Billy and Bobby; grandchild, Douglas; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas.

A funeral service in remembrance of Russell will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 799 St. Paul Dr. Slinger, WI. 53086. The Rev. Robert Fleischmann will officiate. Russell’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Washington County Memorial Park.
