Passenger tampers with ignition interlock device and driver tagged with 6th OWI

 

Jan. 30, 2018 – West Bend, WI – OWI 6th OFFENSE/ TAMPER WITH AN IGNITION INTERLOCK DEVICE Scenic Dr. West at Cedar Ridge Dr.

On Sunday, Jan. 28, at 6:20 p.m., a West Bend Officer stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The driver, a 39-year-old male from West Bend showed signs of intoxication. The man has been convicted of OWI five times. He is required to have an Ignition Interlock Device installed on his vehicle due to these previous OWI convictions.

The officer investigating learned that a passenger, a 35-year-old West Bend male provided the breath sample allowing the vehicle to start and be operated.

The officer arrested the driver for OWI 6th Offense and Tampering with an Ignition Interlock Device. He is presently in the Washington County Jail. The officer also arrested the 35-year-old passenger for Tampering with an Ignition Interlock Device.

On Sunday, Jan. 28 2018, at 2:43 AM, a citizen called West Bend Police and reported that an intoxicated man was in the George Webb’s Restaurant displaying a handgun. Investigating officers stopped and identified the 36-year-old West Bend man.

The officers observed the man was intoxicated and was in possession of a loaded handgun. The man blew a .202 into a PBT and was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Going Armed While Intoxicated, Carrying a Concealed Weapon without a Valid Permit, and Possession of Marijuana.
