According to the We Energies website there are 1,660 people affected. The cause of the outage will be posted when information is available.
Earlt word is power is expected to be restored by 9 a.m.
If you remember last year We Energies had several power outs and the problem was tied to the warm weather mixing with the salt on the ground and then getting kicked up from traffic onto power lines. Below is the explaination from We Energies Amy Jahns.
“When the weather is warmer with moisture in the air and there’s a lot of road salt, that moisture and road salt can mix and when it gets kicked up onto the power poles it becomes a conductor. The electricity is already going through that equipment and sometimes the poles catch fire and that’s what we saw at this particular location.”
This is is a working story and we will bring you more details when information becomes available.
