VIDEO | West Bend teen builds mountain bike trail at Glacier Blue Hills for Eagle Scout project

August 4, 2020 – West Bend, WI –  Mikey Spangenberg, 17, of West Bend worked over the weekend with members of Scout Troop 762 to develop a mountain bike trail at Glacier Blue Hills Park. Creating the path and clearing some of the brush was part of Spangenberg’s Eagle Scout project.

“We’re making rollers and berms,” said Spangenberg.

As nearly a dozen scouts grabbed shovels and rakes a yellow skid steer dropped a load of fresh soil onto the trail.

“This was my first idea for a project and I see the mountain bike crew has been putting in a lot of time,” said Spangenberg. “I’ve learned preparation to have the proper materials ready, creating checklists and lots of time management and communication skills.”

Overall the trail is about 12 miles long at Glacier Blue Hills. It consists of some big climbs, strong drops, and Spangenberg’s pump track.
