1 person critically injured in crash on STH 57 NB | By Ozaukee Co. Sheriff

March 4, 2026 – Town of Fredonia, Wi -On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at approximately 12:51 p.m., the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 57 north of Hickory Grove Road in the Town of Fredonia.

Based on witness statements and the initial investigation, it was determined that a 2023 Chrysler Voyager van was parked on the east shoulder of northbound State Highway 57. The van was parked partially in traffic, obstructing the northbound lane, and the driver was standing outside of the vehicle.

A 2018 Ram sprinter van was traveling northbound on State Highway 57 when it struck the Chrysler Voyager that was parked partially in traffic. The Chrysler Voyager was then pushed forward and struck the occupant who was standing outside of the vehicle. Both vehicles came to rest in the northbound lanes.

The driver of the Chrysler Voyager was identified as a 77-year-old male from the City of Chicago, Illinois. The subject suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Froedtert Hospital by Flight for Life.

The driver of the sprinter van was identified as a 46-year-old Joshua Clark from Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. The front passenger of the sprinter van was identified as 30-year-old Preston Ninham from Green Bay, Wisconsin. Both occupants suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

All lanes of State Highway 57 were temporarily closed while Flight for Life landed. The southbound lanes were reopened at approximately 1:48 p.m. Both northbound lanes of State Highway 57 will remain closed for several hours while a crash reconstruction is conducted. Northbound traffic is being rerouted at County Highway D.

Assisting at the scene were the Fredonia Fire Department, Belgium Fire Department, Waubeka Fire Department, Port Washington Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Fredonia Marshal’s Office, Flight for Life, Ozaukee County Highway Department, Ozaukee County Emergency Management, and Ozaukee County Crash Reconstruction Team.
