4 Trail Sharks podium at Waukesha race | By Melissa Schubert

Washington Co., Wi – The Trail Sharks’ NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) fall race season continued this past weekend at Minooka Park in Waukesha. This was the second race of five on the season.

The cool Sunday morning greeted the athletes with dense fog at the park, causing the race course to be a bit more challenging with slippery rocks and roots.

As the day went on the fog lifted and the athletes now had to deal with rising temperatures that climbed to the mid-70s.

The course is known for its large hill near the start of the race, and it quickly spreads out the riders from the mass start.

The course length varied depending on the category, but each had a good mix of double track, single track, rock gardens and other technical features.

Of the 600+ registered athletes for this race, the Washington County Trail Shark Mountain Bike Team had 30 student-athletes that participated and had four athletes take the podium, Gracelyn Beimborn, Shealyn Jablonski, Jaiden Schumacher and Alexander Seboe.

The next race will be at Englewood Grass Farm in Fall River, on September 28.
