Washington Co., WI – The brilliant colors of fall are nearing their final curtain in Washington County, Wi. The once-vivid maples and oaks that set the countryside ablaze with fiery orange and golden yellow are beginning to fade, their leaves tumbling into roadside ditches and crunching underfoot. Still, for those who take the time to wander, it’s one of the most breathtaking drives of the year — especially along the back side of Scenic Drive, just north of Paradise Drive in the Town of West Bend.
The rolling hills seem to glow in the soft morning light, with pockets of trees clinging to their last bursts of color. Here and there, the sunlight catches a patch of frost that sparkled overnight — a sure sign that the seasons are shifting once again.

Mornings have turned crisp, the kind that invite a thicker jacket and a steaming cup of coffee on the porch. Overnight lows have dipped into the upper 30s, and with the recent clock change, early risers are greeted by glistening fields of silver-tipped grass.
A light frost settles on rooftops and shrubs, while the last of the autumn leaves rustle in the cool breeze.

According to the National Weather Service, quiet weather will persist across much of the Midwest through Tuesday, with only light precipitation skirting the Great Lakes region. It’s a peaceful start to November — the calm before the true chill of winter arrives.
