August 4, 2026 – Germantown, Wi – As another election season gets underway, we’re hearing a lot of candidates talk about protecting our communities and standing up for local residents. The difference is that Bernie Newman has actually been doing it for years.
I’ve known Bernie my whole life and have seen firsthand his work on conservation issues, and one thing I’ve always respected is that he takes the time to learn the facts, listen to people, and speak up when something doesn’t make sense. Whether it’s serving with the Conservation Congress, working on deer management, or simply talking with hunters and anglers, Bernie has always believed the people who live here should have a real voice in decisions that affect our land and our way of life.
That matters now more than ever. Across Washington County and around Wisconsin, we’re seeing proposals for data centers, large solar developments, wind farms, and new power transmission lines. Regardless of where you stand on those projects, the people who live near them deserve to be heard before decisions are made. Too many residents feel like those conversations are happening somewhere else and that local concerns come second.
Bernie understands that protecting our natural resources isn’t just about preserving wildlife. It’s about respecting farmland, protecting our lakes and streams, and making sure future generations can enjoy the same opportunities to hunt, fish, and enjoy the outdoors that many of us grew up with. Those traditions aren’t hobbies to Bernie, they’re part of who he is.
He’s also been a strong supporter of our Second Amendment rights. Bernie understands that responsible firearm ownership, hunting, and conservation have gone hand in hand in Wisconsin for generations. He believes we can protect both our constitutional freedoms and our outdoor heritage.
What I appreciate most is that Bernie isn’t trying to build a political career. He’s a working guy who has spent decades serving his community because he cares about it. I believe he’ll bring that same common-sense approach to Madison, and I think the people of the 58th District will be well served by having someone who listens first and remembers who sent him there.
