August 27, 2026 – West Bend, Wi – Joyce E. Mossburg, 87, of West Bend, Wisconsin, died peacefully with family on Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was born May 25,1939 in Milwaukee to Melvin and Alice (nee Gehrig) Mossburg.
Joyce spent her early years in West Bend as a devoted housewife and mother of 4 girls. Later in life she owned and operated two different taverns in northern Wisconsin. She spent her retirement years back in West Bend enjoying her grandchildren. She was a life-long dog lover.
Joyce was married to Robert P. Schmidt for 25 years.
Joyce is survived by her four children- Rhonda Schmidt of Dunedin. Florida, Dawn (Dan) Schmidt Giove, Laura (Jim) Gruber, and Loretta (Steve) Lloyd – all of the West Bend area. 5 grandchildren- Katie Nehmer, Jake Nehmer, Jamie Mapes, John Lloyd and Sarah (Sam) Jarratt, 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived her brother Allen (Diane) Mossburg as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Arlyn Mossburg and grandchildren Daniel Callaway and Rozalynn Mapes
Our family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ivy Manor in West Bend where she passed as well as Cedar Bay West where she lived prior. Also Thank You to Marsha NP and the nurses and staff of Preceptor Hospice for the kindness and loving care given to our mom.
A private graveside service will be held at Washington County Memorial Park.
