Town of West Bend, Wi – The Little Cedar Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District tipped its hat to board chair Mary Therese Breger as she stepped down during the annual meeting after serving for 12 years.
A tribute to her service was read by PRD Treasurer Mark Wagor.
“All good things come to an end. Today will mark the closure of over 12 years of passionate and most certainly the dedicated service of the honorable Dr. Mary Therese Breger to the Little Cedar Lake Protection and Rehabilitation of District.
➢ Mary Therese served as Treasure from 2014 – 2018
➢ Chairperson from 2018 – 2026.
Before we mark the end of Mary Therese’s current service, I would like to take this opportunity to point out some of the LCLPRD accomplishments during her tenure.
➢ Modernized LCL Water Ordinances
➢ Established the LCL Winter and Ice Lake Ordinances.
➢ Obtaining LCL owned Weed Harvester
➢ Obtained new Patrol Boat & formalized Lake Patrol Coverage
➢ Purchase and Installation upgraded PRD Dock System
➢ LCLPRD Building Improvements to ensure safe occupancy
➢ Initiated and Formalized Invasive Species Programs:
o Starry Stonewort Education, Removal and Stainability
o Coordination with DNR Invasivesurveys, studies and action programs.
o AIS Coordinator Program (Washington County)
➢ Re-established formal Water Quality Monitoring Programs.
➢ Coordinated Inter-Governmental Agreements with BCLPRD, Town of West Bend and Washington County.
➢ Upgraded LCL Communications and Signage Programs.
➢ Instrumental is the LCLPRD Website
➢ Instrumental in improving PRD Emergency Reserve’s from $10K to $160K, ensuring the PRD readiness to handle unforeseen issues without resorting to increased Levies or Assessments,
➢ Worked tirelessly on available Grant programs and essentially captured more than$200K in Grant Funding for LCL.
By acknowledging these accomplishments, and the many others of Dr. Mary Therese Breger is important today, especially when we all recognized that this is volunteered time and energy. The LCL today would not be what it is today without her.
