September 5, 2026 – Town of Trenton, Wi – On September 4, 2026 at 4:59 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a residential structure fire on N. Poplar Road.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Newburg Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Upon the arrival of first responders, neighbors were using a garden hose to extinguish flames on an exterior wall of the residence and smoke was visible coming from the attic area. The dogs inside the residence had been safely removed prior to firefighters’ arrival.
Newburg Fire Department upgraded the incident to a Working Still response. Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the fire, limiting the damage to minimal smoke and water damage and limited structural damage. Total damage is estimated at approximately $40,000.
No injuries were reported among residents, neighbors, or responding personnel.
The investigation determined the fire was likely electrical in origin. N. Poplar Road was closed for approximately one hour while crews conducted firefighting operations.
Newburg Fire Department was assisted by the West Bend, Fillmore, Saukville, Jackson, Slinger, Waubeka, and Boltonville Fire Departments, as well as WE Energies.
