West Bend, Wi – It was a sunny Wednesday morning in the 70’s on Scenic Drive in West Bend, Wi and Bill Longdin was putting the finishing touches on decorating his outdoor Christmas tree. He had good reason…

“I’m beating the cold weather and putting the outdoors stuff up…. the older you get the earlier you have to get these things up, you just don’t turn the lights on yet,” he said.
Longdin realized he was pushing the season, but… “I like Christmas,” he said.
The tree with red-and-white ornaments wasn’t the only head nod to Christmas, as Longdin also had a green wreath with a red bow on his work shed. “I put up yellow and blue lights for the Brewers,” he said. “It didn’t help last night (Tuesday night).”

The Brewers are in the National League Division series against the Padres. The Brewers brought home a 3-1 win Wednesday night to clinch the series.
As the boys of summer have a hold on everyone’s attention, we’ll drop another Christmas note as the first Christmas parades of the season are Saturday, November 14, 2026 in Germantown and Hartford, WI.
Germantown’s parade is at 1:30 p.m. and the theme is “A Hawaiian Christmas” while Hartford’s parade steps off at 3 p.m. and the grand marshall this year is Gary Schnorenberg.
On a side note:
– Yes, we are well aware some of the big box retailers already have Christmas displays up, alongside racks of Halloween costumes and boxes of candy.
