October 24, 2026 – Jackson, Wi – Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Roy Glocke, passed away after a courageous and long battle with cancer. Roy was born in New London, Wisconsin on January 30, 1950. He grew up on the family farm in Manawa, Wisconsin.

After high school, he attended UW-River Falls and UW-Eau Claire. In 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed and trained as a transportation driver at Fort Polk, Louisiana. When he returned to Wisconsin, he worked at various jobs in Oshkosh and Manawa.
He became engaged to Mary Cychosz, and in 1972, they were married. They lived in Oshkosh until Mary finished college and they even survived the 1974 tornado, living four weeks in a hotel.
Roy worked as a manager and salesman for various agricultural companies. Roy and Mary moved to various states for Roy’s promotions, including Lexington, Kentucky and Hastings, Minnesota, eventually moving to the Milwaukee area to become a national sales manager for Chr. Hansen.
In January 2007, Roy started his own company called MicroSynergies, selling bacteria (yes… that always made people say, “What does Roy sell??”). In 2018, Roy semi-retired (Mary would disagree with that), and his son, Brad, took over the company. Roy was so pleased that Brad wanted to keep his dream alive and so proud that Brad expanded the company.
Roy was a member of American Legion Post #486 in Jackson. He volunteered for many of their fundraisers. One of his favorites was cooking corn for the “Action in Jackson” festival every June. Roy also bought a 1953 “Willys” Jeep that he had restored and drove in various parades in the area. He was also instrumental in starting a veterans group at St. John’s, believing that veterans needed a place to gather and share their experiences and lean on God for comfort and compassion.
Roy loved deer hunting. He purchased his dad’s woods and set up a deer stand on a wagon and spent many seasons looking for that elusive “big buck.” He also loved fishing with Brad. They had several trips up to Canada to their favorite fishing camp, going out early and late in their boat, as well as having shore lunch with their catch on an island.
Roy was the consummate optimist, always looking for the positive in a situation. Compassionate, thoughtful, and loving to family and God. He even worried these last few months that he had become such a burden for Mary. On the lighter side, Roy loved puns, and his kids and grandkids had to endure them and groan hearing them.
Roy is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Bradley (Kristina); and grandchildren, Aubree and Gibson. He is further survived by his brother, Dennis (Robin); his sister, Sheri; five nephews; and four nieces. Roy was preceded in death by his son, Matthew; his parents, Lois and Everett; and his baby brother, Mark. He was further preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Elaine; his fathers-in-law, Henry and Anton; his sister-in-law, Betty; his nephew, Ryan; and his brothers-in-law, Michael and Jim.
Special heartfelt thanks to the hospital nurses, Reagan, and ER nurse Sam; in-home nurse Renee; Michelle with PT; and all the wonderful staff including volunteers (George) at Kathy Hospice. Pastor Paul, whose constant caring and visitations at home, the hospital, and hospice were such a comfort. Also neighbors, Joe and Sarah, Paul, and Julie for pitching in many times to help.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 12:00 noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jackson, with Rev. Paul Mittermaier officiating. The family will greet visitors from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place in the parish cemetery immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions in Roy’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend is serving the family. If you would like to leave a message of comfort or share a memory of Roy, please visit www.schmidtfuneralhome.com.
