9th annual Bloomin’ Holidays at the Museum of Wisconsin Art | By Jennifer Turner

West Bend, WI – Art and flowers come together for the 9th annual Bloomin’ Holidays at the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA).

The popular event returns Friday, November 5 through Sunday, November 7 giving guests the opportunity to view imaginative floral installations created by local florists and artists on display throughout the museum’s galleries.

Bloomin' holiday

Bloomin’ Holidays kicks off on Thursday, November 4 with Lights in Bloom—a spectacular large-scale outdoor art installation of surrealistic, floral beauty by Appleton artist and filmmaker Oliver Franklin Anderson projected onto the museum’s exterior. Lights in Bloom is free and open for public viewing each night between 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. through Sunday, November 7.

Featured floral designer Michael Alt will transform MOWA’s atrium with a floral installation devoted to the event’s timely theme—Brittle Beauty— inspired by the exhibition on view, The Studio Glass Movement in Wisconsin: The Hyde Collection. The museum invites guests to enjoy a weekend of glass works of art paired with the ephemeral beauty of flowers and botanicals.

This year’s annual event includes pre-recorded video demonstrations playing continuously allowing guests to come and go as they please while safely social distancing. Guests can kick off their holiday shopping in the MOWA gift shop featuring hand-crafted local goods made by Wisconsin artists and artisans for thoughtful gift-giving.

Bloomin’ Holidays has grown to become one of MOWA’s most popular events. To ensure a safe and healthy environment and manage crowd capacity, timed entry will be implemented Friday through Sunday. Guests can reserve their preferred time slot on the museum’s website at wisconsinart.org/bloomin or by calling 262-334-9638. Guests without a reservation will be welcomed at the first available entry time.
