June 23, 2025 – Dodge Co., WI – A man was arrested for OWI following a crash involving a loose horse, shortly before 4 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025. The owner of the horse will also be receiving a citation.
A traffic crash was reported near the intersection of State Highway 26 and County Highway A, in the township of Oak Grove, shortly before 4 a.m.
The driver of the car, Abimael Torres Avendano, 25, Fort Atkinson, was arrested for OWI 1st offense and a criminal offense of operating without a valid driver’s license following the collision.
The owner of the horse, Laura St John, 60, rural Juneau, will be receiving a citation related to the horse being at large in the roadway. The horse died as a result of the crash and no injuries were reported by the driver of the car, nor his two passengers.
