December 2, 2025 – Ozaukee Co., WI – The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the names of the individuals involved in the fatal crash that occurred Wednesday, November 26, 2025, on I-43 at State Highway 33 in the Town of Saukville.
The crash involved multiple vehicles including a semi tractor-trailer.

* Deceased driver, Mercedes Sprinter Van: Thomas Paine, age 71, of Johnson Creek, WI
* Injured driver, Ford Fusion: Elizabeth Long, age 29, of Racine, WI
* Injured driver, Subaru Forester: Luke Reynebeau, age 36, of Chicago, IL
* Injured front passenger, Subaru Forester: Michael Schulz, age 36, of Chicago, IL
The Subaru Forester also had a 1-year-old child passenger in the rear seat. The child was uninjured.
The driver of the semi-tractor trailer, Jose Velazquez Medina, 49, of West Allis, WI, was not injured. Velazquez Medina was issued citations for Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle and Illegal Crossing of a Divided Highway.
This crash remains under investigation pending the results of the crash reconstruction and toxicology testing of the semi-tractor trailer driver.
November 26, 2025 – Ozaukee, WI – On Wednesday, 11-26-25 at approximately 3:11 p.m., the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a multiple vehicle crash involving a semi tractor-trailer and three vehicles on I43 at STH 33 in the Town of Saukville.

A semi tractor-trailer was travelling southbound on I43 when it lost control and jack-knifed. The semi crossed the median and travelled into the I43 northbound lanes where it was struck by two northbound vehicles, a 2013 Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van and a 2018 Ford Fusion.
The semi tractor-trailer came to a final rest on the I43 northbound lanes blocking both lanes of traffic. The two northbound vehicles struck the semi-trailer and became pinned underneath.
The driver of the northbound Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Fusion suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Aurora Medical Center Hospital in Grafton.
A third vehicle, a Subaru Forester, was travelling northbound and struck the semi and came to a final resting point between the I43 northbound lanes and the exit ramp to STH 33.
The Subaru Forester was occupied by three people who suffered severe, but non-life-threatening injuries. All three occupants were transported to Aurora Medical Center Hospital in Grafton.
The I43 northbound lanes were closed while for approximately 5 ½ hours while first responders worked the crash scene and traffic was diverted at STH 33. At approximately 8:35 p.m. all I43 northbound lanes were reopened.
The Saukville Police Department, Port Washington Police Department, WI State Patrol, Grafton Police Department, Ozaukee Central Fire Department, Port Washington Fire Department, Waubeka Fire Department, Southern Ozaukee Fire Department, Fredonia Fire Department, Ozaukee County Emergency Management, and Ozaukee County Crash Reconstruction Team assisted at the scene.
