Obituary | David Hanke, 75, of Leroy, Wi

March 25, 2026 – Leroy, Wi – David Hanke, 75, of Leroy, Wi, was called home to be with the Lord on March 20, 2026, at his home.

David

David was born on July 31, 1950, in Fond du Lac at St. Agnes Hospital to William and Rose (Koehler) Hanke. He graduated from Lomira High School in 1968. He went on to the University of Wisconsin- Oshkosh, “the Harvard of the north,” with a Bachelor’s Degree and graduated from Marian University with a Master’s in Education.

David loved music and was an amazing band director. In his travels, he played at Lambeau Field, the Hollywood Christmas Parade, the Presidential Inauguration parade, the London New Year’s parade, twice in Hawaii, and the Rose Bowl.

Those David leaves behind to cherish his memory include siblings: Eugene Hanke, Eunice Scheberl, Rosemary Washick, Angie (Howie) Scheberl, Lloyd Hanke; special great niece Christine (James) Wulff, and best friends Dennis “Ching” Jean Lau. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, William and Rose was preceded in death by his siblings Wanda (Eugene) Schuh, Violet Hanke, Sylvia (Delmar) Petrie, Roseanna (Raymond) Palkovich, Merlin Hanke, Darlene (Dennis) Bauer, sisters-in-law Bernice Hanke, Donna Hanke, brothers-in-law Richard Scheberl, and Arthur Washick.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: David’s family will greet relatives and friends at Avenue 795, (795 Fond du Lac Ave, Fond du Lac, WI 54935) on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.. The eulogy will be read at 4:30 p.m. with dinner to follow.
