November 16, 2025 – Dodge Co., Wi – Shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, a 911 caller reported there had been a fire, and a 16-year-old male had serious burn injuries as a result. The incident occurred in an apartment building on Park Lane in the village of Lomira.

Dodge County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded, and the initial investigation showed a small fire started as the teenager was using a lighter to melt plastic keys to a keyboard to repair it, and a nearby bottle of isopropyl alcohol ignited. The fire extinguished prior to fire department arrival, with very minimal damage inside the apartment.
The patient was flown by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee, with suspected serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and remains hospitalized.
The fire was considered accidental, and it was determined it was not intentional, nor the result of horseplay.
No people were displaced as a result of the fire. The teen’s school district and School Resource Officer (SRO) were notified as part of their Handle With Care team, so that appropriate resources may be made available for the patient and other students.
Also responding to the incident were the Lomira Fire Department and First Responders, Theresa Fire Department, Knowles Fire Department, Mayville EMS, Fond du Lac Paramedics, and Flight For Life.
