Obituary | Donald Martin Gumm, 92, of West Bend, Wi

September 24, 2025 – West Bend, WI – Donald Martin Gumm, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed from this world into eternal rest on September 20, 2025.

Don was born on March 21, 1933, to Martin and Clara Gumm of Jackson, WI. He was a 1951 graduate of West Bend High School. He attended Carroll College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1955.

Don married Susan Leiser, his high school sweetheart, on June 18, 1955. Don was employed by Badger Meter where he was purchasing manager.

Don, “Gummy” was an avid baseball player and coach, winning many championships in the Land O’ Lakes League.

Don was inducted into the West Bend Baseball Association Diamond of Honor Wall of Fame in 2012. Don was also a huge Wisconsin Badger Football fan.

He was known as a “professional” tailgater and a popular figure in the pregame parking lots. Don was also involved with The Threshold, assisting developmentally disabled children and adults. He was a devoted member of St. James Episcopal Church where he often ushered.

Don is survived by his son, Mark (Kathy) Gumm; daughter Ellen (Bob) Feller; grandchildren, Amanda, Cody (Elise), Lauren (Tamara), Devin (Sammy), Haley, Alyssa, and Adam; daughter-in-law, Karleen; great grandchildren, Emmi and Miles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Clara, his brother, Howard “Duke”, his wife of 65 years, Sue, and his son, Michael.

There will be no visitation, but a small service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church of West Bend on October 4, 2025 at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in Don’s name to St. James Episcopal Church.
