February 21, 2026 – Milan, Italy – It’s been a whirlwind for athletes, staff, volunteers, and families associated with the #2026WinterOlympics and today is the last day of competition for speedskaters. For the Jordan Stolz family, this has been an exhilerating memory with a lot that went on behind-the-scenes.
Stolz family is soaking it all in with the same calm steadiness that defines their gold-medalist son.
Parents Dirk and Jane Stolz, along with sister Hannah, have become minor celebrities themselves.
Behind the scenes, their Olympic life is surprisingly ordinary.
“We’re pretty easy going. We’re out of the Olympic Village, probably 20 minutes from here. So for us, we just walk to the grocery store, grab our food, and we’ve attended other events. So it’s been pretty fun and exciting,” said Jane.
That balance of normalcy and once in a lifetime spectacle seems to suit them perfectly.
They’ve also felt the global embrace that comes with Olympic competition.
“Lots of congratulations,” they said. “Ended up getting some gifts from China actually.”
“We’ve had quite a few people giving me pins,” said Jane. “Pins and some gifts. Little panda bear hats from China.”

Despite the fierce rivalries on the ice, they’ve experienced nothing but respect and great sportsmanship.
“That’s speed skating,” said Jane. “Everybody respects each other and appreciates the sport.”
“Even with parents, athletes, us with athletes from other countries. We hug them just as much as Jordan,” said Dirk.
The calm confidence Jordan Stolz displays before each race clearly runs in the family.
“People are writing articles on him not being nervous. How do you feel before the races?”
“Really relaxed,” said Dirk.
“Same thing. We’re not really nervous people. That’s how you got to look at it,” said Jan.e
“It’s a job. Just get it done,” said Hannah.
As for seeing Jordan’s face splashed across hometown storefronts and television screens, they’ll have to wait.

“We haven’t been home. People have been sending us pictures though. It’s all over, I guess, in QSA maybe is a lot. So we’ll see him when we get back.”

Today’s race is the Mass Start. Pack-style racing. There will be four semi-final contests. Two fields for the men and two for the women. Jordan Stolz is in the first semi-final which begins at 3 p.m. in Milan. The top 8 skaters from each round advance to the final.
