Flooding in Village of Germantown prompts emergency response

August 12, 2025 Germantown, WI – Water levels are continuing to rise in some parts of the Village of Germantown and emergency crews are working to prevent flooding where possible.

Emergency crews are collecting assessments of the amount of damage on private property. Police say the information will help with cleanup efforts and with applications for funding to help cover costs.

UPDATES below from Germantown Police:

  • Need a place to get away from the flood? If your home was damaged by flooding and you need a place to go, the Germantown Village Library is open until 8 p.m. and has space set aside for people who need shelter.
  • As of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, We Energies reports 595 people in Germantown without power. Neighboring Menomonee Falls is reporting over 2,000 outages.
  • Washington County Dive Team is staging on County Line Road. Germantown Police Department Officers along with Germantown Fire & Rescue personal will be doing a canvas of Riversbend Circle and attempting contact with all residents. Residents are not required to evacuate however we want to inform them of the current power outage and check their wellbeing.
  • Due to displacement and excessive water in parts of the Germantown Village, the Germantown High School Performing Arts Center (PAC) will be available for displaced Germantown families, effective immediately. GSD, in partnership with the Village of Germantown, asks that you enter the PAC from River Lane. The PAC entrance will be the entry point for anyone seeking assistance. School personnel will be on site to assist people as they arrive. Germantown High School – W180N11501 River Lane
  • If residents in the Village of Germantown decide they want or need to evacuate their homes, they should secure their homes and call the Washington County Sheriff’s Department to get further assistance at (262) 355-4411. You will then be directed to a temporary shelter in our area.
  • If your power is out and you decide to use a generator, please make sure the generator is stationed outside of your home for safety reasons.

Officials are asking neighbors in Germantown, if there is damage to the house, please call Village Hall at 262-250-4700 and press option 2. Village staff will ask you a few questions that will help to respond more efficiently and effectively.
