March 22, 2026 -Germantown, Wi – I’m concerned regarding the County Executive’s proposal and handling of the “Kirk” signage. The use of taxpayer money to rename a roadway was totally rejected by the public.

Other reasons of concern was past reductions in essential services, including Samaritan nursing home, UWWC, & public transportation, while critical infrastructure needs for road repair suffer. Also I question the cost of the signage.
Rather than maintaining focus on community priorities, the board’s approach shifted towards a fundraising effort, followed by inconsistent explanations.
The initial proposal was to promote unity, but later statements acknowledged its potential to be divisive. The pattern of remarks didn’t reflect thoughtful leadership but a deliberate agenda in search of a justification.
The inconsistencies raise questions about the decision-making process. Taxpayer funds aren’t being used but naming rights for roads can be secured through private donations, where is the boundary for naming public property?
Could it ever extend to the entire county being effectively bought and renamed. Pay-to-play?
So to honor the board’s stewardship, promote unity and trust, its action needs to heed the public response to drop the idea.
